Over 8,500 votes were cast in Week 12 of the National Performer of the Week presented by New Balance poll.

And in the end, the race to the finish was separated by less than 100 votes.

Chaparral's Tanner Brown, the surprise winner of the Colorado Class 5A state cross country championship race on Oct. 30, claimed the overall win, securing 3,932 votes and over 46-percent of the tallies.

Arriving in second, with just a shade under 3,900 votes, was Columbus North's Reese Kilbarger-Stumpf, who won an equally epic Indiana State Cross Country Championship.

Brown won by virtue of his career-best 5K performance of 15:44.70 in the Class 5A race in Colorado, which marked just his third win on the season.

A big kudos goes out to Tanner on the honor.

Now let's move on to Week 13 of the NPOTW XC poll.

Make sure you vote for whom you think should win this week's honor. Voting will end Friday, and we'll recognize the winner every Monday during the unveiling of the newest poll. Better yet, each boy and girl winner will win a pair of New Balance shoes.

We are requesting winners (or their parents or coaches) from each week to email Cory Mull at cory.mull@flosports.tv and Olivia Ekpone at olivia.ekpone@flosports.tv to notify us of your contact.

For NPOTW winners dating all the way back to July 12, we haven't forgotten about you! We have kept track of your information and will email you once the New Balance order goes out. Stay tuned!

Vote below in the poll and let us know your thoughts in the comments. You can also vote in our National Girls Performer of the Week poll.
