One of the country's top athletes earned his first NPOTW honors this past week.

Fresh off another insane performance, Ann Arbor's (MI) Hobbs Kessler secured over 37-percent of the vote en route to the Week 8 win.

Kessler was nominated after taking two victories in the 800m and 3,200m at the Farmington New Balance Invitational, wherein he secured a new US No. 1 mark of 1:49.67 for the half-mile.

Kessler now ranks US No. 1 in the 800m and 2-mile this season. This past week, he was passed in the 1,500m and now stands at US No. 3.

A big congrats goes out to Hobbs -- and all the other nominees -- on another successful week of voting.

Now let's move on to Week 9. We'll have seven candidates in this week's poll. Voting will end Friday, and we'll recognize the winner every Monday during the unveiling of the newest poll.
