As we wrap up the cross country edition for the National Girls Performer Of The Week poll presented by New Balance, it's time to reveal the winner for week 17.

At the Garmin RunningLane Cross Country Championships in Huntsville, Alabama, people were able to witness history with the boys of Newbury Park.

On the girl's side, Flower Mound's (TX) Natalie Cook, the UIL 6A state champion, also did something special.

She lined up against many of the nation's best and crossed the finish line in a 16:03.93. Not only was this a new personal best, it was also the second-fastest all-time 5K performance ever recorded. Last year at this time, Jenna Hutchins of Science Hill (TN) ran a 15:58.42 to become the national high school record holder in the 5K - on the exact same course at John Hunt Park.

After Cook's standout performance, she earned 58-percent of the votes to claim the National Girls Performer Of The Week.

This past weekend, Cook continued to dominate the national competition after she won the Eastbay Cross Country Championships in 17:04 and became the first girl from Texas to win this title.

Congratulations Cook on your accomplishments from this cross country season.

We are requesting winners (or their parents or coaches) from each week to email Cory Mull at cory.mull@flosports.tv and Olivia Ekpone at olivia.ekpone@flosports.tv to notify us of your contact.
