National Boys Performer Of The Week (5/17-5/23)

* Dayton Carlson was our Week 9 winner; Matthew Prebola is a Week 10 nominee

Dayton Carlson's milestone performance at the AIA Division 2 State Track and Field Championships had a second life this week in the form of the MileSplit National Performer of the Week award.

The Casteel (AZ) senior won Week 9 honors after his state triple, as the Arizona State signee won the 800m in 1:52.34, the 1,600m in 4:08.07 and the 3,200m in 9:13.82.

But the voting was far from certain.

A total of three athletes accumulated more than 2,000 votes apiece, with Isaiah Bond and Jaylen Boudreaux also generating 33-percent and 23-percent of tallies, respectively.

But Carlson eventually claimed just a bit more, rallying for the win with 3,700 votes and over 36-percent of the tallies.

A big congrats goes out to Dayton on the honor, and to all the nominees who were a part of Week 9's polling.

We're into double-digits! Now let's move on to Week 10.

We'll have nine candidates in this week's poll. Voting will end Friday, and we'll recognize the winner every Monday during the unveiling of the newest poll.
