Joe Sapone covered the last 200 meters at the Wingfoot XC Classic on Sept. 24 with some downright crazy speed.

And on Friday, the Atlanta Holy Innocents' Episcopal junior closed out National Performer of the Week presented by New Balance voting, winning the Week 7 title with over 48-percent of the tallies.

Sapone accrued just under 1,000 votes, securing the win over St. John's Houston's (TX) Emmanuel Sgouros, who was second overall with 36-percent of the vote.

Sapone won the recognition by virtue of his big win at Wingfoot, which saw him grab the overall win in 15:29.60.

A big congrats goes out to Sapone on the honor, and to all the nominees.

Now let's move on to Week 8 of the NPOTW XC poll.

Make sure you vote for whom you think should win this week's honor. Voting will end Friday, and we'll recognize the winner every Monday during the unveiling of the newest poll. Better yet, each boy and girl winner will win a pair of New Balance shoes.

We are requesting winners (or their parents or coaches) from each week to email Cory Mull at cory.mull@flosports.tv and Olivia Ekpone at olivia.ekpone@flosports.tv to notify us of your contact.

Vote below in the poll and let us know your thoughts in the comments. You can also vote in our National Girls Performer of the Week poll.
