6. A Breakout Season For Justin Braun

- - -

It's safe to say this Ohio sophomore was relatively unknown to a national audience until this season.

But the Thomas Worthington (OH) athlete's first big step into the limelight was when he clocked a time of 47.84 seconds in the 400m at the Ohio Championship Preview Meet, a US top 5 mark.

He then went on to lower that effort again over the next two meets, dropping his PR to 47.36 at the SPIRE Scholastic Showcase and then 46.77 at the OATCCC D1 Indoor State Championships.

Granted, all of these times were run on the 300m oversized track at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio, though he still became the only athlete to break 47 seconds in the 400m over the entire indoor season.

Braun wasn't limited to that distance, either. He also clocked some strong 200m performances, including a 21.85 second time at the Ohio Championship Preview Meet, a 21.66 at the Kent State University High School Meet #3, and a US No. 6 time of 21.38 at the OATCCC D1 Indoor State Championships.

Check out the Thomas Worthington (OH) sophomores US No. 1 400m race above.
