He didn't get the national record in the weight throw he was searching for, but Trey Knight did the next best thing.
The Ridgefield (WA) senior -- who few would question is the top thrower in the country -- got another effort on the all-time list, launching a new US No. 1 mark of 83 feet, 11.75 inches during The Simplot Games.
That throw put him No. 13 all-time on the weight throw charts.
And it was one of two marks over 80 feet for Knight, who a year ago made the top 10 list with his 86-7.5 mark. Knight is headed off to the University of Southern California in the fall. No other thrower in the country threw over 80 feet in the weight throw.
