2. The Wild 300m Race Between Cameron Rose And Justin Robinson

- - -

A historic race, for two reasons.

First: Both athletes ran times that are now on the all-time list.

Rose, the Hickory Ridge (NC) senior, finished in 32.84 seconds, which is US No. 3 all-time. Meanwhile, Robinson, the nation's top quarter-miler from Hazelwood West (MO) High School, was just three-hundredth of a second back in 32.87, which is US No. 5. Each ran under 33 seconds, entering a list of just five athletes all-time.

Second: The finish was absolutely epic.

Did you see it? You knew from the start it would be good. Robinson, staggered in Lane 5, saw Rose, in Lane 6, direclty ahead of him. Robinson knew he had to make up that ground from the gun.

That's what he did.

But Rose refused to give up, and when Robinson made a big move on the backstretch, the North Carolina athlete covered. Off the final curve, it looked like Robinson had edged ahead of Rose, but there was still so much ground left.

When they finally reached the finish, it came down to a lean -- shoulders touching at the line.

Robinson would go on to win the 500m a day later at the same meet, in dominant fashion, scoring a US No. 1 time of 1:02.39, which was also US No. 5 all-time. Rose, not to be out done, ran the sixth-fastest indoor 200m (20.94) of all-time and secured his place at the top of the MileSplit50 rankings for the entire season.

If we're being honest, it came down to that head-to-head.
