9. The Breakthrough Seasons Of Jaden-Price Whitehead And Johnny Brackins

- - -

There's at least one athlete every year who makes that big step in the field.

We were lucky in 2020 to witness two of them do it.

Both Upper Dublin's (PA) Jaden Price-Whitehead and Lee's Summit's (MO) Johnny Brackins moved into elite territory this indoor campaign, loading up for US No. 1 and US No. 2 marks in the long jump.

For Price-Whitehead, he entered into elusive company, posting the only 25-foot jump of the season in February with his 25-0 mark. Brackins, meanwhile, scored his best overall with a mark of 24-6 ... on the very same weekend.

Brackins, however, was also US top 15 in the triple jump (48-2.75) while Price-Whitehead was US top 20 (47-10.25).

The numbers don't lie, though, and the pair were the second and third most dominant jumpers in the country across both disciplines, only trailing Sean Dixon-Bodie, who landed a historic triple jump mark in February and will land higher on this list.

The combined totals for Price-Whitehead (72-10.25) and Brackins (72-9.25) are just an inch from one another.

So here's to hoping these two surge even higher together through competition over the next year.
