BEAVERTON, Ore. - Nike has added another promising young star to its roster of NIL athletes, announcing that standout sprinter Melanie Doggett will join the Nike Running family.
Doggett, an incoming freshman at Landmark Christian High School in Atlanta, Ga., has already built an eye-popping resume before even setting foot on a high school track. The 14-year-old phenom holds multiple age-group world records and recently clocked a blistering 7.17 seconds in the 60 meters at this year's Millrose Games-breaking her own record in the process.
The deal marks a continued effort by Nike to invest in the next generation of athletic talent. "As part of Nike's ongoing commitment to powering the future of youth sport, the brand is proud to introduce the newest student-athlete to join the Nike Running family: Melanie Doggett", the company stated in a press release.
Doggett first caught national attention as a young child, winning the 100-meter national title in the USATF's 8-and-under division. At age 9, she set an age-group world record in the 200 meters with a time of 26.08 seconds. By 11, she had claimed records in both the 60m and 100m.
In middle school, she continued her dominance, winning consecutive state championships and leading her team to victory. She plans to compete in the 100m, 200m, 400m and long jump events in high school.
Doggett, who balances elite training with strong academics as an honor roll student, says she values both the challenge and community that track brings.
"The Nike team has always made me feel welcome and heard," Doggett said via Nike. "I think it's really cool that they want to work with me, and I'm excited to be a part of the family."
With her sights set on continuing her record-breaking trajectory, Doggett is poised to be a name to watch on the national track scene-and now, with Nike's backing, her journey is just getting started.
