Analysis: Four returners are back from last year's fifth-place finishers at the Indiana State Championships, including All-American Kole Mathison, who ran the fastest 5K time in Indiana history last year at the RunningLane XC Championships in 14:23.32.
And that team result at states probably irked a lot of athletes on this squad, considering the boys of Carmel won the Riverview Health Invitational and was third at Semi-State and second at its regional. Along with Mathison, two others return with PRs under 16 minutes on this squad.
Biggest Question: Developing the back-end of the roster.
Having roster depth in Indiana isn't only important, but it's downright required. Carmel will need to count on its four, five, six and seven to score in champiponship settings.
