No. 15: Union Catholic (NJ)
Analysis: Right now, we have Union Catholic, the defending NJSIAA MOC champs and the Group Championships (Non-public A) winners, as the No. 2 team in New Jersey, behind fellow private-school stalwart Christian Brothers Academy.
Will it stay that way? That's certainly the storyline we will be watching this fall.
TullyRunners, the notable speed ratings site, has UC in front of CBA to begin the season. We don't doubt Mike McCabe's squad, which features a burgeoning superstar in junior Jimmy Wischusen -- who ran the fastest sophomore XC time in history last year at RunningLane in 14:33.94 -- and has just one senior heading into the top five. But there is a bit of youth here and we need to see how expectation and the reality of interstate battles takes hold in the early months. Plus, Union Catholic will have to figure out its compression, which currently stands at more than two minutes between its No. 1 and No. 5.
Biggest Question: How will the back-end of Union Catholic's roster develop over the season?
