Update 8/3/2021: With the 2020 (2021) Olympics underway in Tokyo, we decided to roll out our Class of 2016 profiles again, featuring a crop of talented athletes from the United States. Grant Holloway will look to earn gold in the 100m hurdles later this week.
The Class of 2016 has the potential to go down as the greatest crop of track and field athletes from one graduating class ever.
A handful of athletes from that year have already won NCAA titles, earned international medals and set new American and World records. We caught up with them as they prepared for their biggest test yet: The U.S. Olympic Trials.
Next up in our series is Virginia native Grant Holloway, a 2019 Bowerman winner, a 60mH world record holder and a graduate of Grassfield High School.
Before leaving high school, he was among Virginia's top all-time hurdlers. And yet, it wasn't until his arrival at the University of Florida when he truly began to explode as a world superstar.
Holloway set an NCAA and American indoor record in the 60mH and an NCAA record in the 100mH. He would go on to win a World Championship title in the 100mH in 2019 before later breaking the world indoor record in the 60mH in 2021. For more on our series, visit the links below.
