Analysis: Could a CIF Division I title be in Parra's future? Considering he's the top returner in California to the classification, there's good reason to think he is. 

Last year was a breakthrough season for Parra, who ran under 14 minutes for 3 miles at the Woodbridge Cross Country Classic, clocking a time of 13:56.50, fourth all-time in the junior class.

From there, he secured a runner-up finish in the DI-D2 Sweepstakes race at Mt. SAC, was sixth at Nike Portland XC and 18th at the ASICS Clovis Invitational, which later led to a sixth-place finish at states. 

Outdoors, Parra clocked personal best times of 4:12.98 in the 1,600m and 8:46.50 in the 3,200m. He was the runner-up at the latter distance at the CIF Outdoor Championships, only finishing second to senior Matthew Donis. 

If any year is the year, this one would be it for Parra. He should be among the best in California this season, if not the best.
