No. 11: Josiah Tostenson
- - -
School: Crater (OR)
Year: 2025
2022 Notable Finishes: 42nd at NXN in 15:42.70; 10th at NXR Northwest in 15:28.70; 6th at OSAA State Championships in 15:44.70; 5th at Woodbridge XC Classic in 13:57.40.
Analysis: Crater may be losing Tyrone Gorze, who was the school's most accomplished runner in its history and captured the majority of its school records. But Tostenson could be just in good ... in time. The rising junior is among the nation's top recruits in the Class of 2025 and accomplished some extraordinary performances as a sophomore in 2022.
Take, for instance, his 3-mile best of 13:57.40 from the Woodbridge Cross Country Classic last September. That 3-mile performance was the fastest of any sophomore in history. He followed by scoring a sixth-place finish at the Oregon state championships, a 10th-place recognition at NXR Northwest and a 42nd-place nod at NXN.
Over the outdoor season he clocked career best times of 3:51.31 for 1,500m and 4:08.05 for the mile and 8:55.13 for 3,200m. While he's not at Gorze's level yet, he soon could be.
