Montverde Academy (FL) Continues To Dominate The Season At FSU Relays
Montverde Academy (FL) had a big weekend.
As the team wrapped up the indoor season at New Balance Nationals Indoor with much success earlier this month, the Eagles followed with their first outdoor effort at the FSU Relays.
In the sprints, Adaejah Hodge clocked a time of 22.84 (+3.0) Friday night, while her teammate Issam Asinga posted a wind-legal Florida No. 6 all-time performance of 20.57 (+1.5).
In the 100m the following day, Hodge finished in 11.18 (+1.9) seconds and was just 0.24 off the national high school record, which was set back in 2019 by Briana Williams. Asinga followed up with a 10.06 (+3.1) performance to set a No. 13 all-time under all conditions mark.
Meanwhile, Michelle Smith pulled off the 400mH-800m double. In the two-lap race, Smith clocked a new personal best of 2:07.95 to defend her title. In the 400mH, she set a season-best of 58.41 to improve on her US No. 1 time.
Kyle Johnson and Hoover's (AL) Jay Avery both long jumped 23-11 (+2.6) to be the top finalists.

But it wasn't just Montverde Academy that stole the show this weekend.
In the boys 3,200m, Patrick Koon was the only boy in the field to break nine minutes as the junior won the title in 8:52.60 to set a new U.S. No. 2 mark. In the girls race, Cambridge Christian School's (FL) freshman Eliana Black posted a U.S. No. 9 time with a time of 10:30.18.
In the girls 100mH, Chelsi Williams of George Jenkins (FL) clocked a 13.70 and was the only girl to break through the 14-flat barrier. In the boys short hurdle race, Kalib Branch of Lovejoy (GA) set a new lifetime best of 13.89, which is a new U.S. No. 4 time.
Micahi Danzy put together a solid effort in the 400m. The Florida high school junior became the sixth boy this outdoor season to dip under 47 seconds in the event. He won the title in a U.S. No. 2 performance of 46.16.
