Athletes Leave Their Mark At Jesuit-Sheaner Relays


In Texas, Lauren Lewis of Prosper (TX) had a busy weekend at the Jesuit-Sheaner Relays. 

Lewis, who is the third-fastest returner in the quarter this season and is the defending UIL outdoor state champion, opened up her spring season with a 56.86 in February.

Lewis began to see things click on Saturday as she ran a 53.09 in the prelims. In the finals, the Texas commit dropped a blazing 52.52 to set a lifetime best and lead the nation in this event. 

Ivana Odonkor of McKinney (TX) was second with 54.38 and Kyla Lewis of Prosper Rock Hill (TX) was third with 54.50. 

Lewis also won the 200m in 23.66 after she ran a 23.55 in the prelims.

In the boys shot put, Trey Wilson of Hurst Bell (TX) threw a nation leading toss of 64-11.75. 

In the girls discus competition, Stanford commit and Lewisville Marcus (TX) senior Emma Sralla inched closer to the national high school record. 

Sralla, who was the World U20 discus champion last summer for Sweden, improved on her U.S. No. 1 toss of 180-7 to 193-8 to win the title by nearly 25 feet.

There are only two other girls who have thrown further than Sralla in history - -Shelbi Vaughan who has the national high school record of 198-9 and Taylor Reynolds who tossed the discus to 194-2.75 feet back in 2006. 

Kayla Watson of Prosper (TX) long jumped 19-5.25 (-1.4) to win the title and lead the nation in this event.
