Which girls athlete reigns supreme in Wisconsin? 

Right now, that distinction goes to Shorewood (WI) senior Delea Martins -- at least the first of what could be many races over the indoor calendar. 

The University of North Carolina recruit took down fellow Wisconsin starlet Brooklyn Sandvig -- the state's Division I triple-winner in the 100m, 200m and 400m last outdoor season -- in consecutive tries in the 200m and 400m on Sunday at the Morolake Akinosun Invitational in Chicago.

It took strong racing, however, out of Martins, who won the 200m in 24.71 seconds and the 400m in 56.47. She defeated Sandvig, a Chippewa Falls senior, by just 0.15 hundredths of a second in the former race and just over a second in the latter. 

Both fields were especially loaded, too. Four girls cracked the sub-25 barrier in the 200m, including Martin, Sandvig (24.87), Lola Kolawole (24.93) and Asia Thomas (24.97). 

Three went under 58 seconds in the 400m, including Martins, Sandvig (57.60) and Nevaeh Burns (57.75). 

Martins is now ranked No. 36 nationally in the 200m and No. 18 in the 400m. Sandvig is No. 54 and No. 55, respectively.
