A pair of Fort Myers Dunbar seniors earned National Performer of the Week honors for their efforts last week at the The Galleria Games in Birmingham, Alabama.
The Week 3 vote saw Leonard Mustari and Lucheyona Weaver earn victories after registering 63-percent and 57-percent of the vote, respectively.
No doubt it was much earned, as Mustari scored elite performances of 7.78 seconds in the 60mH, which re-set the national bar as a US No. 1 performance, while he added a US No. 6 mark in the long jump, too, leaping to a season-opening and career-best indoor effort of 23 feet, 4 inches.
Weaver, meanwhile, capitalized on her debut with four total performances, including a US No. 2 60mH time of 8.50 and two US top 30 performances in the 60m (7.76) and 200m (25.39). She also ran 1:01.87 in the 400m.
A big congratulations goes out to the Florida seniors on their efforts.
The National Performer of the Week poll will continue as we turn the corner into the new year.
