Top 15 Girls Performers Of New Balance Nationals

7. Sophia Rivera (MO) - Shot Put & Javelin Champ

Labeled as the nation's most versatile thrower, Sophia Rivera lived up to that billing at the 2015 New Balance Nationals Outdoor. The Brentwood (MO) junior Rivera won national titles in both the javelin and shot put along with a sixth place All-American finish in the discus throw.

Two weeks ago, she competed in three throwing events in one day at the Great Southwest Classic which prepared her well for a busy weekend in Greensboro as well. On Friday, Rivera won the girls javelin throw dethroning the defending champion Tairyn Montgomery from California by only six inches with her winning throw of 157'2".

Her third national title came on Sunday in the shot put with a big personal best mark of 53'1". The US #2 throw from Rivera helped her defeat a stout field that included Penn Relays champ and New Jersey champ Nickolette Dunbar.
