It was the perfect night for this pair of speedy Oregonians to run national leads, as the Nike/Jesuit Twilight Relays played host to a pair of historic performances from Crater's (Ore.) Tayvon Kitchen and Lincoln High School's (Ore.) Ellery Lincoln

After finishing fourth at Arcadia, the BYU commit wasn't satisfied. At the Nike/Jesuit Twilight Relays, Kitchen PB'd by ten seconds, stopping the clock at 8:33.82. It was a new state and school record and the eight-fastest 3200m ever run by a high schooler. However, it did break the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) record

ELLERY LINCOLN, Lincoln (Ore.)

Class of 2027

Wow. For the first time this s season, a high school girl has dipped below 4:40 on the outdoor oval, and she's only a sophomore. The Cardinal standout made her season debut in the 1600m at the Nike/Jesuit Twilight Relays, running a national lead of 4:37.75, a new PB that lowered her previous mark by two seconds. Not only was that a new Oregon sophomore state record, but it was also the fastest 1600m ever run by an Oregon girl. It's also the No. 4 mark in national sophomore history, and No. 26 in prep history.
