Two of Oregon's best teams lined up this weekend at the Ash Creek XC Invitational.

They just happened to be the same program.

The No. 20 ranked Portland Jesuit boys and the No. 12 Crusader girls scored 26 and 40 points, respectively, to run through the competition at Ash Creek as they began the season in earnest, picking up two wins.

Jesuit senior Caden Swanson, the program's low-stick, clocked a winning time of 15:30 for 5K while the Crusaders placed their first five boys inside the top eight finishers and their top seven within the top 15.

Jesuit, the second-ranked Oregon team by MileSplit behind Crater (who is at No. 2) to start 2023, posted a 15:43 average on a 20-second spread.

TEAM SCORES
PLACE	TEAM	POINTS	SCORERS	TIMES

2	South Eugene	142	26+27+28+29+32 (35+41)	0:14 1-5 Split | 16:51 Avg
3	Sheldon	186	3+5+9+84+85 (93+94)	3:03 1-5 Split | 16:57 Avg

5	West Salem	207	17+18+53+59+60 (68+74)	1:31 1-5 Split | 17:13 Avg

The Crusader girls, meanwhile, weren't as top-heavy but were just as depth-ridden, scoring their first five inside the top 12 and the team's top seven inside the race's final 15 placements.

Senior Liliana Hudnut, the program's top returner, finished fourth in 18:30.30, leading a group whose compression was 45 seconds and average was 18:59. That time currently puts the team's average right inside the top 20 teams in the country so far this season.

Of note was Crescent Valley's Emily Wisniewski, who won in 17:00.00. The reigning Oregon Class 5A state champion and NXN qualifier, who won 10 races last year, picked up her second straight win and nearly broke 17 minutes for the first time. Her performance puts her at U.S. No. 3. Wisniewski enters the season ranked No. 19 by MileSplit.
