Analysis: After an incredible freshman year, Engelhardt continued to dominate during her sophomore season. She won the CIF Division 2 State Championship with a 16:57 personal best for 5K and then finished 10th at Champs Sports Nationals.
On the outdoor oval, she produced three back-to-back sub-4:40 miles in a row, including a 4:38 to win the New Balance Nationals Outdoor title. At the state level, Englehardt made history as she became the second girl in CIF State Meet history to win the 800m-1,600m double since Kathy Costello accomplished this feat in 1975.
Engelhardt also produced a 2:06 in the 800m this spring to be U.S. No. 16, 4:33 in the 1,600m to be U.S. No. 1, 4:36 in the mile to be No. 3, and clocked 9:51 in the 3,200m to be U.S. No. 4.
