Analysis: Despite having a short cross country season, Dalton rose to the occasion as one of North Carolina's fastest distance runners in 2022.
Dalton was the runner-up at the NCHSAA State Championships and later finished as the 12th-fastest 5K athlete at Balboa Park at Champs Sports Cross Country Nationals.
She had a brief indoor season as she clocked personal bests of 4:50 in the mile and 16:45 in the 5K.
During the spring, she became the state champion in the 3,200m and continued to excel on the national stage. Dalton, the Notre Dame commit, was the fourth-fastest competitor in the two mile with a 10:05 at New Balance Nationals Outdoor.
