Girls State Meet Merge - Boys State Meet Merge


From Justin Horne's double in the hurdles to Michael Vocke's third-straight title in the 1,600m to Kaden Lewis's dominant run in the 100m, the LHSAA boys championships offered storylines galore this weekend at Louisiana State University. 

- Horne, a senior at John Curtis, pocketed times of 13.82 in the 110mH and 37.25 in the 300mH, claiming two Class 5A state titles in the process. 

- New Orleans Jesuit, one of the state's top distance teams, was all over the distance events: Bluejays junior Michael Vocke claimed the Class 5A 1,600m in 4:15.60, his third straight, over teammate Jack Desroches, who went 4:16.41; seniors Patrick Dowd and Robert Buisson went 1-2 in the 3,200m, posting times of 9:14.49 and 9:21.59, respectively; while senior Zack Blanchard was fourth in the 800m in 1:55.16, behind overall winner Rhen Langley, who went 1:51.55

- Jesuit, however, couldn't topple state stalwart Catholic in the 4x800, where the squad won another 5A title in 7:55.08. The Baton Rouge program also won the 4x400 in 3:15.38.

- Edna Karr, one of the state's top sprint programs, won the Class 5A 4x200 in 1:25.06 over Holy Cross (1:25.99), though the latter team won the 4x100 in 41.17. 

- Broderick Davis of Scotlandville won the long jump in 23-6. 

The girls championships, meanwhile featured a hurdle double from Makeriah Harris, a sprint double from Amairi Ashford and a distance double from Catalina Reichard

- Harris was all over the place for Scotlandville, winning the Class 5A 100mH in 13.49, the 300mH in 41.49 and contributing to her squad's state win in the 4x200 in 1:36.80. Scotlandville was second in the 4x100 behind Zachary (46.03). 

- Ashford, meanwhile, won the Class 5A 100m in 11.72 and the 200m in 24.30.

- Reichard claimed the Class 5A 1,600m in 5:04.86 and the 3,200m in 11:05.96.
