AHSAA Class 4A-7A Results

Hoover's reign atop the AHSAA Class 7A division remained over the weekend, with the Alabama powerhouse yet again earning dual state titles in the boys and girls fields, scoring 146.5 points on the boys side and 125 on the girls side.

Led by Jay Avery, who won Class 7A titles in the long and triple jump, and DeMarion Gardner, who claimed a win in the 400m and a runner-up position in the 200m, the Bucs walked away with impressive wins.

Vestavia Hills' Alex Leath, vying for wins in the 800m, 1,600m and 4x800, claimed all three, winning the 1,600m (4:07.33) in a sprint, the 4x800 (7:44.67) in a dominant showing and the 800m in cruise control (1:55.49) as he walked away with his most successful state meet yet.

Meanwhile, Chelsea's Cady McPhail (above) mirrored Leath's successes in the 800m, authoring three wins of her own in the 800m (2:10.14), another in the 1,600m in 4:52.14 and a third in the 4x800 in 9:24.15. McPhail was fourth in the 3,200m.
