East Coast Showcase Results

A handful of state championships got underway this weekend around the U.S., but let's start with the Puma presents the East Coast Showcase, an elite invitational held in Landover, Maryland on Saturday.

A week after The Penn Relays, a selection of Jamaican programs -- Hydel, St. Elizabeth's Technical and more -- remained in the U.S. and were offered a chance to race against some top high school athletes.

That they did.

The competition didn't disappoint, with top-drawer results taking place, such as Nyckoles Harbor defeating Brody Buffington in the 100m and Madison Whyte dominating in the 200m and 400m races, respectively.

But we would be remiss if we also didn't mention the 100m girls final, where Hydel's Alana Reid (above) nearly broke 11 seconds in a winning time of 11.01.

She took down Montverde Academy (FL) star Adaejah Hodge, who followed in 11.18, along with Avery Lewis, who ran 11.41, and Laila Campbell, who stopped the clock in 11.63.
