Chatham's Ryan Beegle Anchors New Jersey Program From The Brink To The Overall Win
- - -
It was anyone's race to win.
But perhaps few would have expected the Championship of American boys 4x800 to end like it did.
When Kingston College made a move on the leaders in the final exchange, moving into the lead, it seemed as though the Jamaican program was going to take the tape.
But Chatham of New Jersey pounced when the moment called of it.
As Kingston College's anchor buckled, Chatham's Ryan Beegle surged into the final meters with abandon, surging to a dramatic finish that gave his team a win in 7:47.66, a mere two-hundredths of a second over Kingston College's 7:47.68.
St. Elizabeth Tech was third in 7:49.45.
