Hydel's Girls Dazzle In 4x100 Final
- - -
The Championship of America girls 4x100 was shaping up to be a spectacular moment on Saturday.
With Hydel High School, the pre-race favorite, lining up in lane 6 -- opposite the top American contingent in Bullis -- things were interesting even before the gun went off.
To make matters more interesting, Alana Reid, Hydel's prep superstar, would lead.
And lead them she did, setting up the Jamaican side for the third-fastest performance in Penn Relays history, clocking a time of 44.16 seconds. Bullis School, not far behind, went 45.59 to finish second.
The win was significant because it made Hydel the first winner not named Edwin Allen since 2013.
St. Jago (45.98), McDonogh School (46.57) and St. Augustine's (46.61) followed in third, fourth and fifth.
