Simplot was on distance overload on Saturday. 

Chief among the top prep performances was Daniel Simmons' effort at 3,200 meters.

The reigning Gatorade Cross Country Player of the Year managed his two-day haul smartly, pushing through the qualifying race on Thursday before ushering through the final with a time of 8:53.80, a U.S. No. 2 performance. 

The American Fork athlete held off Champs Sports third-place finisher Sam Hansen, who clocked a time of in 8:55.67, while Herriman's Noah Jenkins (9:06.27) followed in third and Orem's Tayson Echohawk (9:12.94) was fourth. 

A total of eight athletes went under 9:20 for 3,200m.

Herriman, however, would be right back in the spotlight for the 4x800. The fast-moving Utah distance program earned a sub-8 minute performance in 7:59.27, out-pacing the next best team by 12 seconds. 

The Utah squad also clocked a U.S. No. 18 time. 

Alberta, Canada-based teenager Meadow Drebert, entered in the 800m, walked away with a win in 2:13.32. That performance would have put her at U.S. No. 21.

Sydney Morrell, meanwhile, barely held off Avalon Meachom in the 1,600m, winning in 4:58.28.

Echohawk's teammate, Lydia Beus, won the 3,200m in 11:07.48.

Idaho native Gatlin Bair, a junior at Kimberly High School, became the sixth athlete under 6.7 for 60 meters this season, clocking a winning time of 6.69 seconds. It tied for a U.S. No. 5 performance. 

Braelyn Baker, a junior from Redmond, won the 200m in 24.06. It was a U.S. No. 14 time.
