As our colleagues at Louisiana MileSplit put it, Scotlandville "swarmed the competition" on Saturday at the LHSAA Indoor Championships.

Enough said.

A year after Ruston High School dominated the festivities across both fields -- with a cadre of sprints, jumps and throws athletes -- Scotlandville followed suit with a double of their own, largely using star performances from Broderick Davis and Makeriah Harris

On the girls side, Harris won the 60mH, 400m, 4x200 (above) and 4x400 and was third in the 60m. There wasn't much she couldn't do.

The mark of a truly superior athlete is that, even when the day is long and hard, said athlete can still find a way to perform: And that's exactly what Harris did, pushing through muscle fatigue for a career best time of 56.31 in the 400m. That performance is also now U.S. No 38.

Davis, meanwhile, moved his way all the way to U.S. No. 6 in the long jump, winning the Division I field with a leap of 24-0.5. The effort was a little out-of-nowhere, as. Davis improved by nearly a foot-and-a-half with the mark. He also won the 60mH (7.84) and TJ (45-11.25).

Championship feels? We'll mark it up to that.

Top Performers:

  • Emma Bourg of Houma Christian, who scored two wins in the Division 2 1,600m (5:06.55) and 3,200m (11:13.07) over a day's worth of work.
  • Alana Simon of Episcopal cleared 5-8 in the HJ, which is a new U.S. No. 8 mark.
  • Rhen Langley, the new state record-holder in the 1,600m and 3,200m, pulled off the indoor triple, winning the 800m, 1,600m and 3,200m for Zachary High School.
