On the west coast, athletes traveled to Boise, Idaho to compete at the Bob Firman Invitational

Timpview's (UT) Jane Hedengren, who just celebrated her 16th birthday last week, came in ready to compete. Over the last couple of weeks, Hedengren has been challenged with an injury that she's taking steps to overcome. With that, the Bob Firman Invitational was her first race back.

Her injury didn't stop her from making a statement.

Taking the lead early on in the race, it was the sophomore against the clock. She set a new personal best of 17:25.80 to break the meet record and proceeded to run the No. 8 all-time performance on the Eagle Island State Park course.

Nelah Roberts of Skyline (ID) finished second with a 5K best of 17:46.50 and Raygan Peterson of Timpanogos (UT) ran a 17:46.50 for a new lifetime best.

On the boys side, the Rocky Mountain boys won this invitational after a two-season hiatus against teams from Utah, Idaho and California.

Landon Heemeyer was the only contender in the elite division to break 15 minutes for 5K with a course and meet record of 14:58.4. Heemeyer led Rocky Mountain to the team title with all five scorers finishing in the top 65.

Heemeyer (1), Tyler Sainsbury (8), Hunter Hill (24), Keith Uitdewilligen (30), and sophomore Cody Lucas (66) finished with an average of 15:48 and earned 117 points to outperform Skyridge (UT) and Farmington (UT).
