The Top Six Boys Races To Watch At The VA Showcase

A Handful Of Leaps Toward 25-Feet

Four of the country's top talents in the long jump will go head-to-head in the pit.

And it's going to be quite a lineup: Upper Dublin's Jaden Price-Whitehead, who hit 25-feet in 2020; Lee's Summit's Johnny Brackins, a recent USC signee who's posted a 24-plus mark; current US No. 2 Kaelen Mitchell, who produced a mark of 24-2.25 in December; and Dunbar's Leonard Mustari, who is looking to rise enter into the 24-foot discussion.

The battle for placement -- while important -- could be secondary to securing personal records on the day. Whomever jumps farthest could set a good precedent for the future: The meet record was set in 2019 by Southeast Raleigh's Eric Haddock, who jumped 24-5.

Price-Whitehead opened his season in November with a leap of 23-1 and followed in December with a US No. 1 mark of 24-10.75.
