Racing Toward Sub-4:05
One of the more compelling races of the weekend will be the boys mile, where athletes will be eyeing up a chance to drop a sub-4:05 mile.
Only four athletes ran faster than that mark a year ago, and four of those marks came in one race -- the Quarantine Clasico, an event that saw Leo Daschbach break 4 in 3:59.54.
Only one other athlete, Rheinhardt Harrison, managed to be among that group, with a performance of 4:01.34.
But a few athletes are looking to change that perspective here. One such athlete is Borah's Nathan Green, who ran 4:09.45 indoors last year before the season closed off.
The meet record here is a soft one: The mark of 4:13.63, last accomplished by Dalton Hengst in 2018, could and should be broken.
The Idaho prep has a good opportunity to drop a career-best race here, as will performers like Sully Shelton of Georgia and Collin Peattie of California.
