Girls 400m Championship

Entries: 28

2018 Winner: Arria Minor, Denver, Colorado, 52.74 seconds

Armory Record: Sydney McLaughlin, Union Catholic, New Jersey, 51.61

National Record: Sydney McLaughlin, Union Catholic, New Jersey, 51.61

Threats To Win: Kayla Davis, Talitha Diggs, Kimberly Harris, Sanaa Hebron, Brooke Jaworski, Alahna Sabbakhan, Victoria Vanriele, Vanessa Watson, Britton Wilson

Analysis: A couple things to watch here. In the championship, in all likelihood, it should come down to Davis vs. Wilson in the final steps. Wilson has had a historically great year at 300 and 500 meters, recording the No. 6 and No. 2 performances at those distances all-time. Davis is just beyond the top 10 all-time in the 400m (52.96), but has raced enough in 2019 to learn from her mistakes. Wilson is No. 5 on the MileSplit50 and Davis is No. 6. There's an All-American place on the line there, too.

Secondary to this, will be just how athletes like Harris, Diggs and Jaworski race. Harris is ranked No. 3, Jaworski is No. 5 and Diggs is No. 7 at the distance. I think there's a chance all five of these girls make the finals and will come up with sub 54-second performances.
