2. The Slow Burn That Turned Into A National Record: Anna Hall Captures Watermark Pentathlon Moment

- - -

It was a field day for Anna Hall in New York.

The Valor Christian senior was the toast of Friday, setting a new high school national record in the pentathlon with 4,302 points to finish third overall in the women's field.

That point total netted her the No. 3 U20 performance of the 2019 season and shattered the previous national record of 4,068, which was set in 2013 by Kendell Williams -- who won the pentathlon ahead of Hall, coincidentally.

Hall routinely looked comfortable in the setting, dropping a career best indoor mark of 5-11.5 in the high jump, while posting solid marks in the 60mH (8.56), shot put (41-8.5) and long jump (18-4.5).

The University of Georgia recruit finished her outing with a time of 2:16.11 in the 800m.

That record might not stand for long, though. Hall is headed to New Balance Nationals Indoor in March with a chance to claim her third national title, and could boost her point total even further.
