The Scoop: Sydney McLaughlin Sets Another WJR In 400 Hurdles

South Carolina's Championships Were A Doozy

South Carolina had its fair share of electric performances, too. Check out some of the highlights.

1. The big sprint battle of the day was in Class 4A between Lower Richland's Ronald Fuller and Dreher's Jacory Patterson. While Patterson may have had the better numbers this season, Fuller persevered in the 100m, winning in a time of 10.46 (+0.9) over Patterson 10.48. All eight finalists were under a wind-legal 10.8. Patterson, though, did come back in the Class 4A 400m and win in 47.64.

2. Boiling Springs' Najee Thompson ran the fastest overall 200m on the day, registering a time of 21.06 in the Class 5A race. It amounted to a huge PR for Thompson, whose previous best was 21.30. Better yet, though, Thompson also took the 400m in 47.03 seconds.

3. Spartanburg's Brandon Hicklin doubled in the long jump and triple going, going 24-2.5 in the long jump, where he out leapt his competition by over nine inches. It was also the farthest mark of the day. He won the triple jump with a mark of 48-7.

4. Wando's Zeniyah Lawrence doubled in the 100m and 200m, posting a wind-legal 100m time of 11.68 (+1.4) and a win in the 200m in 24.04. She added a third title in the long jump, producing a top South Carolina mark of 19-4.

5. State leader Imagine Patterson, one of the country's top long hurdlers, won her second straight title at 100mH in 14.13 (+1.3), a career best, and her fourth straight championship in the 400mH in 61.15.
