Masai Russell Is Officially The Fourth Fastest Prep Female All-Time At 300mH
The best long hurdler in the country this year? Maybe that's still a debate, but Maryland's Masai Russell is doing her best to end that discussion.
The Bullis (MD) High senior and Tennessee signee posted the No. 5 best effort all-time at 300mH and became the fourth fastest female all-time at the distance in 40.16 seconds, winning the ISL/MAC Championships this weekend in Bethesda, Maryland.
Only Sydney McLaughlin (2017), Lashinda Demus (2001) and Ebony Collins (2005) have logged faster times over the high school ranks all-time.
But Russell, who's being chased for the US No. 1 mark by a very capable Emily Sloan (40.77), joins elite company with that 40.16 finish. That mark ties Demus' 2001 mark and puts her on a path potentially toward breaking 40 seconds at the distance. Only McLaughlin (38.90) and Demus (39.98) have ever been able to do that in high school.
