Coming into the race, US #7 Ella Donaghu wanted to go after the course record. She was clearly on a mission, going out hard from the gun. She came through the two mile mark in 11:02 and hardly slowed down as she flew to the finish in a new Oregon State Meet course record 17:26. Now the question will be how long she can stay on top of the course all-time list? She was followed across the line by a trio of freshmen with Ember Stratton finishing 2nd in 17:42, just shy of the old course record. Stratton led the US #4 Sunset squad to a 45 point championship and four athletes in the Top-10.

Five athletes finished within six seconds of each other between the different divisions. It would come down to the final race of the day, and a pretty sweet neon race kit worn by Ahmed Muhumed, which almost assuredly gave him the edge. He would win the 6A state title, dropping 15:38 and the fastest time of the day by one second.
