Running her first sub-17 5K last Saturday, Orono's Ruth White collected this week's National Performer of the Week win.
At the Maine XC Festival of Champions in Belfast, not only did White pump out a personal best of 16:56.92 for a third consecutive meet win, but she also broke her own previous course record by nearly 30 seconds.
She was the only girl to dip under 17-minutes, with a leading finish of almost 20 seconds. During the week, White earned 68-percent of the votes and was named this week's National Performer of the Week.
It's time to vote for this week's NPOTW. The poll will end on Friday and the winner will be announced next Monday.
Here are the nominations for the National Girls Performer Of The Week:
Sadie Engelhardt, Ventura (CA): At the Asics Clovis Invitational this past weekend, the Cougar Junior took home the championship title running 16:39.30, leading the girls team to a second place win. Her time broke Corie Smith's 2019 meet record by 14 seconds.
Bethany Michalak, Air Academy (CO): The NC State Commit collected a personal best of 16:48.90 at the Air Academy Kadet Invitational last Friday. The Senior led the Kadets to almost a perfect team score of 16. She earned a 158 speed rating for her efforts.
Rylee Blade, Santiago Corono (CA): Also dipping under the previous course record at the Asics Clovis Invitational, the Sharks' Junior took second running 16:45.80. Even though it was her first 5k race of the season, she collected a personal best, shaving off nearly a minute from her best at last year's CIF state meet.
Rachel Forsyth, Ann Arbor Pioneer (MI): This past Saturday, the Senior racked up her eighth straight win this season at the Portage XC Invitational running 16:49.20. She held a minute lead, ushering the Pioneers to a team win.
Abby Faith Cheeseman, The Webb School (TN): In her second race of the season, the Junior ran 16:44.30 at the Great American XC Festival in Cary, North Carolina. She held onto an 80 second lead to win the title and earn a 154 speed rating.
Annabella Tomasic, Lake Highland Prep HS (FL): The Florida seventh-grader took home her fifth season title this weekend at the FLRunners Invitational running 17:42.72 with a 14 second lead, beating out the likes of sophomore Eliana Black and senior Ashley Fitzgerald.
