In June 2022, North Carolina A&T hired Allen Johnson as its Director of track and field, replacing Duane Ross, who took the same job at Tennessee.
Ross had spent a decade at North Carolina A&T, building the Aggies into an elite program, including a second-place finish for the men at the 2022 NCAA indoor meet.
Ross' departure presented a shift at NCA&T, with many athletes transferring out of the program. But at next week's NCAA outdoor meet, the program will have two women (senior 100m hurdler Paula Salmon and senior 400m runner Jada Griffin) and two men (sophomore Reheem Hayles and junior Shemar Chambers in the 400m), plus the men's 4x400m relay team competing in the preliminaries.
