Soon after Vance Nilsson won the 400 meter hurdles at the USATF National Junior Olympics last July, he knew his life had changed.

That day, several college coaches approached Nilsson, introduced themselves and told him that they were impressed with his performance. His time of 52.18 was U.S. No. 9 and the fastest in the Class of 2024.

Until then, despite winning the 300mH and finishing second in the 110mH at the Arizona State Outdoor Championships, Nilsson hadn't received any recruiting attention. But starting with that victory, Nilsson has been on the radar of several colleges, including the University of Arizona, Arizona State and the University of Washington, ever since.
