The quarter-mile.
To some, it's the hardest race in track and field.
And in 2022, it's an event with massive depth at the national level.
No male athlete in 2021 broke the coveted 46-second barrier, though that seems like it could change this year, considering five athletes enter with times under 47 seconds this spring -- and that's not including Will Sumner.
On the other side, could we see more young women enter the 51-second club? With the likes of Shawnti Jackson, Roisin Willis, Kennedi Sanders, Christine Mallard and Haley Tate, that surely seems possible.
