Gavin & Callum Sherry Shine At Ocean State

The top six performances on the new Goddard Park East course went down on Saturday, and they were led by MileSplit50 No. 1 athlete Gavin Sherry, who secured a brilliant performance of 14:58.57. With the effort came a sterling speed rating of 196.

Only one athlete has been rated higher than that performance this season, and rightfully so: Leo Young's 3-mile national best of 13:38.1 at Woodbridge earned him a 197.

But Sherry certainly wasn't the only story.

In fact, his brother Callum Sherry made quite the statement, too, finishing third overall in 15:14.63 to pick up a 191 speed rating -- his first venture into the 190s.

Overall, it was one of those days. Athletes were outstanding: Troy La Salle Institutes (NY) Gitch Hayes was second in 15:14.34, while East Lyme's (CT) Luke Anthony was fourth in 15:17.26, Niskayuna's (NY) Julian Franjieh was fifth in 15:36.98 and St. Johns Prep's (NY) Nathan Lopez was sixth in 15:37.78. The top four boys in the race all were rated over 190.

On the other side of the coin, East Greenwich's Reese Fahys dominated the girls race, picking up a win in a time of 17:38.98. She was over a minute faster than the second-place runner and grabbed a 143 speed rating.
