Some of Colorado's best teams and athletes compete at the Arapahoe Warrior XC Invitational this weekend.

The girls varsity race featured preseason MileSplit50 No. 8 ranked Arapahoe High School against MileSplit50 No. 3 ranked Cherry Creek.

The Arapahoe girls came out strong led by junior Emily Lamontagnewho took the individual win running 17:37.90. Arapahoe had all six of its runners in the top 14 at the meet. The team ran an 18:19 average and had a compression of 1 minute and 3 seconds. They would earn the win over Cheery Creek scoring 24 points.

Cherry Creek placed second with 61 points. The Bruins were missing most of their senior contingent, including preseason MileSplit50 No. 3 ranked Riley Stewart. Factoring in only Stewart at No. 1, it would have been a much closer matchup, not to mention seniors Shelby Balding and Addison Laughlin.

Both of these Colorado squads are coming out strong and showing what they are made of, Arapahoe with some strong pack running and Cherry Creek showing the depth in their roster and allowing freshmen like Kinley Wolfe and Paisley Piepgras to have scoring rolls.

The boys race also featured a very exciting 5K opener for the guys from MileSplit50 preseason No. 3 ranked Mountain Vista High School.

In their first full 5K race, the Golden Eagles took home a decisive victory scoring 39 points to win the varsity boys race. Tyler Downs and Nate Harbert led the squad finishing third and fourth overall. The team had a 41-second 1-5 split and a 16:13 average 5K time.
