Marcus Coach T Invitational 2021

* MileSplit50 No. 9 ranked Flower Mound after the Varsity Elite Girls race.

There have been a few smaller regionalized meets across Texas up until this point, but Marcus Coach T brough in teams from all over the state of Texas and beyond to the DFW Metroplex area.

The meet was formally known as Marcus I Invitational until long time Marcus Coach Steve Telaneus passed away in May of 2020. The meet was renamed in his honor.

This is the first year the meet has been run with the new name but it still boasts some of the best teams in Texas, including Southlake Carroll, Flower Mound, Marcus, Proper, Hebron, and more.

The girls race featured Milesplit50 No. 9 ranked Flower Mound who scored 36 points to earn the win. The squad was led by Samantha Humphries who finished third overall in 18:07.2. The team had an average 5k time of 19:00.00.

Taking the individual title was Prosper's (TX) Shewaye Johnson. Johnson won in 17:52.1 with her teammate Aubrey O'connell finishing just behind her in 18:02.5.

The boys race featured MileSplit50 preseason bubble team, Southlake Carroll. The Dragons won the Elite boys race scoring 55 points. The team was led by Robert Freeman who finished 4th overall. The team had a 16:26.30 team average time.

Plano West's (TX) Hudson Heikkinen took the individual win running 15:29.1. He helped his team place second overall scoring 71 points.
