
Vashti Cunningham is unquestionably the top horizontal jumper of the last decade, as owner of the national high jump record. In 2015 she broke the national mark at the Pan American Junior Athletics Championships with a jump of 6-5.25. As a senior at NV Bishop Gorman High School (NV), Cunningham cleared the bar at 6-4.5 at the UNLV Winter All-Comers #1 meet in January of 2016. This was the top jump by any senior within the past decade. Later that same year, she made the 2016 Olympic team by placing second at the U.S. Olympic Trials with a leap of 6-5.5. In 2019, she earned the bronze medal at the 2019 IAAF World Championships.
