Lafayette High School's (LA) 2018 graduate, Armand "Mondo" Duplantis, had a remarkable freshman year that consisted of breaking records along the way.

During the 2015 indoor season, he pole vaulted to 16-9.5 at the LHSAA High School Indoor State Championship, which was the national freshman class record. A few weeks later at Texas Relays, he leaped to the height of 17-1. He then continued raising the bar at the Region I-5A Championships where he jumped to 17-4. About three months later at the 9th IAAF World Youth Championships, he jumped 17-4.75 in the finals to win the competition.

His record breaking performances didn't stop there. His journey continued when he broke the world junior record in AND the world record in February of this year.
