7 Of The Most Intriguing Uncommitted Recruits Right Now

Athing Mu

School: Trenton Central; competes for Trenton Track Club

Interested Schools: Texas A&M, Oregon, Penn State, Illinois, Ohio State, Kansas, Tennessee, Arkansas

Why Their Commitment Matters: Mu is coming off of the best season of her life. She set the American and World Junior record in the indoor 600m and was selected for three USATF international teams: The Pan-American U20 team, the Pan-American Senior team and the U.S. vs Europe team. She finished off the 2019 post-season racing against some of the world's best professionals and earned a fifth-place finish at the USATF Outdoor Championships.

As a junior in high school, Mu would have been within hundredths of an NCAA indoor title and possibly could have yielded an NCAA outdoor title based off her USATF Outdoor Championship effort. No matter the program or conference, Mu would immediately dominate in the 800m. Her marks reflect that. She's the fastest high school 800m runner since Sammy Watson in 2017 and is currently the sixth-fastest 800m runner in high school history.

In mid-October, the senior went on her first official visit to Texas A&M. The Aggies have been at the top of their game in the collegiate 800m with NCAA champions Jazmine Fray and Sammy Watson and NCAA runner-up Devin Dixon.

The mid-distance sensation is keeping her top five choices under wraps for the time being, but she allowed some of the top schools to come to her house for a preliminary home visit. Mu allowed home visits from the University of Oregon, Penn State University, University of Illinois, Ohio State University, Kansas University, University of Tennessee, University of Arkansas and Texas A&M.
