7 Of The Most Intriguing Uncommitted Recruits Right Now

Nico Young

School: Newbury Park

Interested Schools: Georgetown, UNC, Virginia, NAU

Why Their Commitment Matters: Young made a statement early on this cross country season with the fastest three-mile run in high school history (13.39.70). He also ran the 11th fastest 5K ever in his season opener. The senior had a busy outdoor season, leading the nation at 3,200m and also had U.S. top three marks in the 1,500m and 3,000m.

Based off of his times last season, Young would be considered a top 25 NCAA athlete in the country amongst freshman in the 1,500m. Northern Arizona University was the home to Theo Quax, the fastest freshman in the country last year, at 1,500m.

The addition of Young to any of these programs would allow them to mold one of the best distance talents in the country. The Newbury Park senior's top four schools have a strong distance presence that any top talent would want to be a part of--and two have coaches of which are considered among the best developers of talent: Chris Miltenberg at UNC and Vin Lananna at UVA.

Northern Arizona University is currently ranked No. 1 on the USTFCCCA Coaches' Poll.
